Director, Economics and Corporate Initiatives with the BC Ministry, Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport

As Director, Economics and Corporate Initiatives, with the BC Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport, Wendy is known for establishing enduring partnerships and establishing critical operational linkages between key partners and organizations across BC and other areas. As part of her role, Wendy leads the Ministry’s team responsible for tourism emergency management coordination working with the BC tourism industry, cross-government partners, and other agencies. Wendy’s passion for emergency management has grown from her direct involvement for over a decade supporting the BC tourism industry during such events as the BC Ferries Queen of the North sinking, Mount Polley mine tailings pond breach, and the 2017/2018 and 2023/2024 wildfires along with other all-hazard emergency events.

Wendy is proud to share over 30 years of tourism marketing, destination management and industry development experience at the local, regional, provincial, and international levels. Wendy has cultivated a diverse industry network informed by many different perspectives having worked for organizations such as BC Parks, Destination BC, BC Ferries, Tourism Victoria, Community DMO’s (Kamloops and Revelstoke) and two BC tourism regions including Vancouver Island, as well as for the Walt Disney Company. In other parts of the BC Government, Wendy has had roles leading international trade marketing and brand management and developing economic plans with the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Recovery, and Innovation.
