Susanna Shankar

Founder / Editor-in-Chief of Curiosity Saves Travel

Susanna will be a part of our Dose of Innovation session, speaking on the topic of ‘Fostering Resilient Tourism Communities with Nature-based Solutions’.

Susanna grew up in Alaska on Dena’ina Athabascan land, where the changing climate was always on her mind. Over ten years of experience in the travel industry have given her first-hand experience with tourism’s polarizing effects, leading to a career advocating for regenerative tourism best practices. Susanna studied journalism and environmental science. Her master’s thesis focused on integrating nature-based solutions in tourism management to benefit communities and biodiversity. Leveraging the intersection of these two fields, she aims to bridge the gaps between tourism, research, and science communication by empowering stakeholders and travelers with knowledge and practical advice to foster more positive impact tourism experiences. When she’s not mindfully exploring the world or local region, you’ll find her at home in North Vancouver relaxing with her cat and partner while trying to get to level 99 in life.
