Dr. Altaf Sovani
Dr. Altaf Sovani is the Founder and CEO of Alzen Consulting Inc., a boutique consulting firm specializing in the hospitality, tourism, and foodservice industries. With more than 25 years of experience in hospitality education, academic leadership, and consulting, he is widely recognized as a respected thought leader and trusted advisor in the hospitality & tourism sectors.
Previously, Dr. Sovani served as Academic Chair of the School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Algonquin College and as Chair of Heads of Hospitality & Tourism Ontario. Throughout his career, he has been dedicated to advancing hospitality education, developing future industry leaders, and strengthening partnerships between academia and industry.
An award-winning author, Dr. Sovani wrote Labor Crisis in Hospitality, Tourism and Event Industry: Finding Innovative Solutions for Recruitment and Retention of Millennials. He has also published numerous academic articles and is a sought-after guest lecturer, consultant, external auditor, panelist, and moderator at hospitality and tourism conferences around the world.
Dr. Sovani is the recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his outstanding contributions to education. He was recognized among the 30 Most Influential Educators in Global Hospitality (2023) and the 50 Most Influential Educators in Global Hospitality (2024) by the International Hospitality Institute. He also serves on the Inntelo AI Advisory Board, helping advance practical AI solutions for the hospitality and real estate industries.
He holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from California Southern University and an MBA from the University of Guelph. Passionate about innovation, lifelong learning, and industry excellence, Dr. Sovani continues to share his expertise through consulting, mentoring, volunteering, and service on boards and advisory committees.
