Christian Van Buskirk is an Associate Teaching Professor at the Gustavson School of Business and brings over 25 years tourism industry experience in the private and public sectors. His experience ranges from marketing and coordinating province-wide tourism initiatives to owning and operating a destination marketing organization (DMO) and customer experience management consulting business.

The focus on his work includes sustainable tourism certifications, experience management, branding and marketing communications. Most recently, Christian has been involved in community-based tourism skills and tourism entrepreneurship skills training as well as sustainable tourism education, including sustainability coaching for tourism businesses building sustainability plans.

Christian acts as the North American representative as part of the United Nations-supported initiative, Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME). He collaborates with a global education community to develop a “Playbook” of teaching materials and instructional strategies that will give educators effective ways to teach sustainable, responsible management to business students.
